My Experience

Health Updates

Since it’s been a while, I thought I’d give you some updates on my health. Great news to start, I have still remained out of the hospital. Bad news, I have had a few run-ins with the ER. I also had syncope for the first time in quite a while. Both were difficult blows. That being said, I’m working really hard to maintain my health. I’m working closely with my doctors to find a regiment that works. I’m utilizing both medication and home remedies that keep me up right and functioning.

My allergies have been kicking up. As normal allergy season comes around, I start to struggle a little more. Luckily, I anticipated this. It didn’t come as any surprise. I did however have to go to the ER once due to a face rash and severe itchy. No significant swelling came as a result of that episode. I was able to go home on steroids but unfortunately face rashes will almost always result in a trip to the ER. Normally, I would wait it out at home. Since I have such an adverse reaction to Epi, it’s always safer to go in before adrenaline is necessary. This trip resulted in a referral to ENT. I’m not completely sure what is supposed to come of that visit but I suppose I’ll find out when I get there.

I also had an episode of syncope which resulted in an ambulance ride and a very traumatic night. My friends and I were hanging out when without warning I lost consciousness. All I could say was that something was wrong. My hands were numb, and despite my brain screaming to get up, I lost consciousness multiple times.

I feel incredibly lucky that my friends were there and so on top of things but it was a tough blow nonetheless. The end result is a bump in my blood pressure medication and a lot more salt and electrolytes. That day in particular, I had gone for a run. It was one of my first runs back and it clearly took a much more significant toll on my body than I had realized. Needless to say, I learned a very valuable lesson and I’m being monitored more closely.

Speaking of running. I am officially past my twelve weeks of hip surgery. I have yet to see my surgeon for my follow up and because of that I don’t have the official approval to start running. I have been running post twelve weeks. It’s necessary for my sanity. I’ve gone far too long without working out and my brain and body can tell. So I have started that once again. Unfortunately, my knees are feeling the brunt of that shift. Despite getting cortisol shots in both knees, the effects have already worn off.

The next step is knee MRI’s with the anticipation of surgery if anything is torn or damaged. It’s unclear to my care team as to whether there will be a definitive injury. It’s entirely possible that my knees have been overcompensating for my hips. The pain could be from overuse. Regardless of the fix, it needs to be addressed.

For only being gone a month or two, that seems like a lot of updates. I wish I could say that was everything but unfortunately there are more little things. That being said, I am functioning well on a day to day basis. At my worst, I can still manage to be upright and I’m so grateful for that. I also largely attribute that to Crush. Without him, it’d be significantly difficult to find myself in space.

That’s all for now.

I hope your day is going well. I hope that your day is filled with joy, positivity, and laughter. I hope you find peace, love, and happiness.

Glad to hear you’re all right now, although you have a lot of stuff going on, and thankfully you are doing due diligence to make sure you are staying healthy. Have you thought about abandoning running temporarily and just trying to speed walk? I know how brutal running can be on the hips, the knees as well. I am thinking bad knees run in Grammy’s side of the family anyhow. I know typically runners don’t like to hear about that kind of stuff, since they love to run, but it really is brutal on anyone in the hips & knees, even without other issues. kudos t you for trying it again, but sometimes something close may be ok for you? I am hoping you’re able to resolve the pros/cons about it. Thanks for updating, it is nice to see you making some progress in areas, and Pray you’re able to stay on tip of the other areas too. I’m so glad you have Crush, hopefully your brother living there is a help for you too. It was nice to see you be able to spend tie with Grammy, I know she really liked seeing you ! Congrats again on the graduation! <3
