My Opinions

A Review of Pela

Happy Wednesday!

Today I am going to be doing a review of Pela! About a month ago, I started looking for a new phone case. I wanted it to be sustainable and not have a significant impact on the planet. When I googled sustainable phone cases, the companies that came up were Casetify and Pela. I personally have never bought from Casetify but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews. After looking through their website a bit, I decided that it really wasn’t for me. I moved on to Pela.

I fell in love with the Honey (Bee Edition) Wallet Case. It drew me in immediately. They actually had quite a large selection of cases that I thought were really cute. I didn’t have to narrow anything down. I knew immediately I liked the Honey case more than the others. I was impressed with their wide selection though.

They have the Honey (Bee Edition) case in both a regular form and the wallet form. I was really looking to downsize everything I am always lugging around. I decided having a wallet on my case would be the most efficient way to rid myself of carrying my wallet. My only hesitation with this version was that I’m used to having a pop socket. I like to have something on my phone to hold onto. Pela also sells phone grips so I jumped in head first and bought one of those too.

Shipping took over a week. In my book that’s not a big deal but it can be a struggle in the world of Amazon. After using it for a couple of days, I was pretty impressed with the case. I like it a lot. There are drawbacks though. The way that it sits on my phone is a bit off. I have an iPhone 12 Max and when I go to plug in my phone I am always moving the case for the cord. It’s not a huge deal but it’s also not ideal considering the price. The other thing to note is that I have a relatively new phone, I got it in January. Ever since I got my Pela Case, people say that my audio cuts out. The only reason I think this is the case rather than the phone is because of the way it sits. Having trouble with the cord, I think the case blocks my speakers a bit which makes it harder for people to hear me.

This brings me to the phone grip. It actually works really well. I was concerned that with the wallet, it wouldn’t stick as well. To be fair, I did have to readjust it after a week because it was peeling. I restuck it though and it hasn’t been an issue since. There’s nothing notable about the grip itself. The wallet feature is also super handy. It fits all my cards well, they’re not falling out. I’m really happy with both of these things.

This order cost roughly $80,that’s pretty pricey for a phone case in my book. I could justify it because it’s a more sustainable option. I also picked a limited edition case which was more expensive. I added the phone grip. My point is that it could’ve been cheaper but my picks were expensive. Right now, the Bee Edition collection is actually on sale. It’s $45 rather than the original $65.

All in all, I would definitely recommend the Pela Case. There are cheaper options and it’s not perfect but it works well! I honestly love it and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on how it looks. I like that the brand is based out of sustainability. I think paying up to know that the case is compostable and making less waste in the production process is worth the money. That’s just my opinion. What do you think?

I hope that you’re having a great day. I hope your day is filled with joy, positivity, and laughter. I hope you find peace, love, and happiness.
