Easy Ways to Clear Your Mind

I think everyone needs more resets lately. Personally, with school and everything I have going on, I do. I’ve found what works to clear my head and I thought I’d share it here with you. On the off chance you don’t know how to step back, try some of these tips! Let me know what works for you.

  • Clean

Your space is a projection of your mind. If it’s cluttered and overwhelming, there’s no doubt that you’re probably in overdrive. Take a second to tidy up. Even if it’s not a deep clean. Take the opportunity to slow down and focus on your space. It will likely get you into a flow state. This will both clear your mind and relax it. Then your space is ready to start new and so are you.

  • Exercise

I preach exercise for everything. I love running. I know that’s not for everyone and I respect that. Any type of exercise will do. Set a goal and do everything in your power to reach it. If you don’t make it, try again tomorrow. This will give you purpose, if you’re burnt out, having this motivation can be really helpful.

  • Meditation

I know, I know, I should stop talking about meditation. I’m serious though, try meditation. Whether it’s one minute of following your breath or a twenty minute guided meditation, calm your mind. It’s worth it. You might think the entire time. You may hate it. You may love it. You never know unless you try. For me, mediation was life changing.

  • Word Vomit

Sometimes our thoughts can be extremely overwhelming. An easy way to let this out is letting it out on paper or vocally. I find journaling very cathartic. It’s a great way to think through situations. Often I come out with an epiphany that solves 90% of the problems in front of me. Sometimes there’s too much to write. In that case, just start talking. Talk to the mirror, a plant, or literally anything. Get all the thoughts out of your brain and talk it out to yourself. You may look crazy, but it’ll make you feel sane.

  • Shower or Bath

I find showers very relaxing. It’s a space that feels safe. I can think in the shower for longer than I’d like to admit. It’s a good way to systemically calm down. The more relaxing your situation, the calmer your mind will be. This is why baths also work. Light a candle, find a bathbomb, and turn on some spa music. It will work wonders.

I hope these help you out. There’s a lot going on in the world and it’s okay to take a step back. You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to have all the answers. You can take a break. Give yourself space to breathe. I hope you have an amazing day that’s filled with love and laughter.
